Tuesday's 5 Things: 5 Pieces of Clothing You Have Been Attached To

I am sentimental and attached to pretty much everything I have, which makes for quite a time to organize and tidy. Purging is a big deal for me, consequently, and when it comes to clothes, I am always pleased that we have our swaps. I just want my little ditties to go to a good home, you know like a beloved pet or something. There have been several times that I took photos of my clothes before getting rid of them. Sigh...

5 Pieces of Clothing You Have Been Remarkably Attached To

1. Red Velour V-Neck Sweater with Penguin - I *WILL* hunt for the photo with me wearing this beloved sweater. It was PRETTY rad! I had it when I was six-eight. There was an extended period of time that it was missing though, and I'm telling you --- NOTHING was more gratifying than its resurfacing!
2. Yellow Paisley Shirt - Thrift store find of the century! I wore it through high school, and I believe I took it to college. It was this interesting kind of rayon that isn't gross, you know the kind? It was probably a men's shirt, but I distinctly remember that it wasn't very long, so maybe it was a pajama shirt? The buttons looked like butterscotch candies. It was divine. When it fell apart, I was so distraught. And yes, I still have it. I must do something with it.
3. Hideous Red Dress with Scotty Dogs - I wore this dress for my first grade school photo. It's ridiculous! It has this little white laced collar, little dogs all over the dress, and one ENORMOUS dog on the bottom left of the dress. At the time though, I was enamored with it. I wore it all the time, and refused to let it be thrown away. In fact, I had this equally disturbing (yet adored) dancing bear (that was taller than me, and you put your hands and feet in its straps), and I decided that the bear should wear this dress, and it still did until maybe a couple weeks ago. The sad bear was falling apart so I threw it out. Yes, I did. Ha! The dress I kept for hilarity purposes mainly.
4. Ever-So-Amazing Silver Doc Martens - My first, and actually only pair of Docs. Got them my junior year in high school and they were pretty much my signature shoe/boot (they were 8-eyes) for 5 or so years. SILVERRRRR! I mean really, how cool is that? Of course I would have preferred them to have been glittery, but you know, they were extremely rad! When I moved out of Pamela's I took a photo of them. So so cherished, but in reality I would never wear them again. I must believe someone else is wearing them with love.
5. Red Dansko Clogs - The only item to still be worn of this list. I can't remember what the circumstances were that lead to me getting them. I think it had been a very long time since I had bought new shoes, and with Hannah, I was up on my feet a lot dancing her to sleep, at the park, etc. I missed having a decent amount of flair though, so when I saw these RED patent leather clogs, I knew I was in love ---- and still am. They're more than just shoes though, they're a part of me. At work, Bob simply calls me Red Shoes.

You?? What have been 5 articles of clothing/shoes that have meant something to you??

1. My beloved purple crew neck sweater - I believe I had my 5th or 6th grade photo taken in it. I wore it forever, with and without shirts under it and much to my grandmother's chagrin I'd wear it in the middle of summer while wearing shorts

2. I want my MTV! - Boyfriend's shirt. It was a lovely worn, faded dark orange tshirt with just the MTV logo on the front, circa 1987. It disappeared never to be seen again :( Damn I loved that boy and that shirt

3. a flannel - during those grunge years I wore a lot of flannel, and a lot of denim cutoffs. This shirt in particular had a pretty nice plaid. It was blue and it was thin and long. Whenever I see that shirt in photos it is like it disappeared yesterday

4. I'm gonna have to go with shoes in general. I have such issues finding shoes I love so when I do I want to wear them forever and even when I stop wearing them due to condition I have a hard time getting rid of them

5. The plaid skirt - I've never worn it. It has always been too small for me but I keep it. I dream of fitting into it one day. I'm considered hanging it on my wall as a visual cue. It is a green and blue plaid, it is heavy, possibly wool, buttons down the front.

1. There is this seriously threadbare somewhat terrycloth sweatshirt I bought at bi-mart on clearance for fifty cents twelve years ago. I wore it forever and ever, and then gave it to Adam, who wore it till it was translucent. I still occasionally steal it and wear it around the house while cleaning.
2. my brown clogs. I got them from Megan at a swap and I wear them everywhere and for everything.
3. My black maryjanes, which were my favorites before I got the clogs from Megan. They're from Fred Meyer and are an off brand, but I like that they're just a little different from Danskos, which I will never be able to afford anyway lol.
4.the mauve and mauve (blush and bashful) dress I wore to my uncle Danny's wedding when I was 3.
5.I had this linen babydoll dress for a long time, through the nineties, and I loved it. I finally wore it too many times while pregnant and got burned out and gave it to my friend Zoe who is a fiber artist, and she made some amazing stuff with it.
